Éduc'alcool developed this handy tool to help you anticipate your blood alcohol content (BAC) based on how much you expect to drink. Ideally, you should make the calculation before the start of the evening, but you can also do it as you go. Either way, the point is to control your alcohol intake and make the most responsible decisions.

Use the planner to track your BAC from the moment you have your first drink until all the alcohol has left your body. Obviously, the figures are approximate only and have no legal value.

And remember: even the most accurate calculator can't replace your own good judgement. This tool is designed to help you make the right decision, not make the decision for you.

My blood alcohol content

This graph shows how your blood alcohol concentration evolves over the course of an evening.

In Quebec, the legal limit for driving is 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood (.08). This applies to everyone except drivers 21 or younger and professional drivers who are transporting other people (e.g. bus drivers, taxi drivers, etc.), in which case the limit is 0 mg (zero). For drivers of heavy-duty vehicles transporting merchandise, the limit is 50 mg per 100 ml of blood. Nonetheless, it is always best to be perfectly sober before you get behind the wheel.

If you want to drive safely and legally, your blood alcohol level must be lower than 0.08.
