Contrary to popular belief, Éduc’alcool is not a government body. It is neither funded nor overseen by the government.

In order to support awareness and education initiatives regarding responsible alcohol consumption, the Société des alcools du Québec collects a fee ranging from $0.01 to $0.03 based on the product category, which is added to the selling price of each alcoholic product. This fee collection totalled about $3.7 million in the 2023-2024 period.

The amounts thus collected total approximately $3.7 million in 2023-2024. Éduc’alcool allocates 85% of its funding directly to prevention and education programs related to its mission.
