Parties and festivals
FAVORIBookmarkEncouraging Quebecers to make informed choices regarding their drinking habits means beginning by inviting them to think about their own relationship with alcohol and its effects. This is why Éduc’alcool enjoys participating in a wide variety of festivals.
From June 29 to November 5, 2023, Geneviève Desautels, general director, Julie Blaudin de Thé, communications manager, and Sophie Lafrance, assistant to general management and partnerships manager, attended five major events in Montreal, Lévis, and Drummondville on behalf of Éduc’alcool.
They interacted with festival-goers, engaging in animated discussions that often sparked new insights for the attendees about their drinking habits. This was achieved using Éduc’alcool’s unique trivia wheel.
A wheel that always spins in your favour
Passers-by were invited to spin the trivia wheel and test their knowledge regarding 4 main categories of questions:
- Fact or Fiction- where preconceived ideas about drinking are demystified
- A Little Sip of History – where the names of cocktails and the origins of alcohols are explored
- True or False – where biology meets alcohol
- Science or common sense – where the truth about the long-term effects of alcohol is scientifically revealed
The beauty of the wheel is that it encourages participants to share their own experiences—the questions spark conversation and introspection. At the end of the conversation, the team offered participants branded coasters and fridge magnets.
A caring and appreciated presence
This year, the Éduc’alcool team met 1,331 people in 12 days while attending events.
Everywhere they went, people were curious, interested, and open-minded. Actively listening to people who speak opening and compassionately about their relationship with alcohol allows Éduc’alcool to continually refine its mission and the messages it transmits to the general public.
